So many companies these days have made quiting smoking a market, which in my opinion is despicable. Quiting smoking will drastically increase your health, and learning how to do it shouldn’t cost anything, thus I am making this guide.
I am not going to lie to you, quiting smoking will be a challenge. But remember that nothing worth having comes easy. Want your energy back, tired of your shortness of breath? Do you just plain hate the feeling of being addicted to something? There are plenty of questions I can tease you with to get you encouraged, but honestly there is an easier way to encourage yourself…
Step 1 - Motivating Yourself
For some people, this will be the hardest. Whatever you do, make sure you are 100% committed to this. We are not trying to quit smoking, we are quiting smoking. Remember that.
Here is what I did, set aside five minutes, turn everything off, be in a quiet room, and grab a piece of paper and something to write with. Now for the next five minutes, I want you to write down everything you don’t like about smoking. Don’t censor yourself, anything you think of, write it down. What do you value that smoking is taking away from? I’m not going to give you any examples, because you need to realize what matters to you, not what I think should matter to you. Done? Good, now imagine what kind of person you will be after you quit smoking, imagine how much better you will feel knowing you accomplished what you set out to do, just imagine that better you for a moment…
Okay now back to reality. You know where you are now, you know where you want to be, now lets take the steps to get there. Is it hard? Yes. Is it possible? Highly. Over 3 million Americans quit smoking each year. There will be withdrawal symptoms, but what a lot of people don’t realize is that they only last for one to two weeks, and I will outline several ways to combat them. If you decide this is what you want, and you are 100% committed to doing this, then lets move on.
